Welcome! Here you find a combination of handouts that go home with our young musicians annually. B.O.Y. is and abbreviation for "Beginning of year" and like wise E.O.Y. is an abbreviation for "End of Year". Please feel free to open any documents at any time for review or to print and submit.
How Can I help my kiddo? You should encourage your child to practice at minimum 3 times a week at home on their required skills and trainings that are listed on their CANVAS Modules tab for the current week. Students will complete a "Mission" or "Pass off" each week on Friday's in class which counts as a portion of their grade. Students should use the "Lessons & Resources" tab on this website to help them at home as needed or if they need a refresher for what we are learning in class daily.
Listen to your young musician! Every stage of this process is important. Showing your support by listening and encouraging them goes A LONG WAY! They look up to you and want to make you proud. Show them that your investment in them and their musical journey is just that, a long term investment worth everyone's time, energy, knowledge, skills & gain some quality family bonding time that will last a life time. Have them put on a mini concert for you at home or during the holidays to show off their "mad skills" when family comes to town. Record them, play it back, analyze it for improvement. Be their cheerleader and excellent role model.
Assignments & Communication Stay on top of their assignments, submissions & progress. Every weekend their grades on CANVAS are updated. You should see B + averages on all assignments to be in good shape for returning to band the following year. Don't wait to contact Ms. Hutson if you see anything of concern. Now is always the best time to get strategies or tips for improvement. We all want them to be successful and confident, let's be a team and help that dream come true!
